Burhan Kum

Burhan Kum was born in Istanbul in 1962 he attended Darüşşafaka high school followed by an education at İTÜ University in the Electronics department. In 1983 he dropped out and fled to the Netherlands. In 1984 he was accepted in the painting department of the Den Bosch Royal Academy of Fine Art and Design. After graduating in 1989 he began working from his studio in Amsterdam. He took part in several group exhibitions in the Netherlands, later opening his first solo show in 1991 in Baku Arts Center. In 1995 he relocated to Antalya. Since 1998 he has had fifteen solo exhibitions and has been published in various magazines and newspapers. Between 2006-2019 he taught “Comparative Art” at Akdeniz University’s Faculty of Fine Arts. In 2019, Gentile Bellini’s Illustrated “Konstantiniyye Diary” was published by 1984 Publications, and “1972-The Story of The Torch Lighters” was published by Ayrıntı publications in 2022. “Eye Judgement” is his seventeenth solo exhibition.
