İhsan Oturmak

Born in 1987 in Diyarbakır, İhsan Oturmak received his bachelor’s degree in teaching arts and crafts from Marmara University in 2012. Oturmak was the recipient of Istanbul Culture and Arts Foundation (İKSV)’s fellowship to participate in the artist-residency program at Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris, in 2013. His works have been exhibited at international institutions and art events including the Istanbul Design Biennial, (2012); Espace Culturel Louis Vuitton, Paris, (2013); Taipei World Trade Center, Taiwan, (2013); Akbank Sanat, Istanbul, (2014); Municipal Art Gallery of Mytilene-Halim Bey Mansion, Lesvos, (2016); Elgiz Museum, Istanbul, (2017); Kasa Gallery, Istanbul, (2017); Royal Academy, London, (2017); Mardin Biennial, (2018); Wienwoche, Vienna, (2018); Galata Greek School, Istanbul, (2019) and Kunstraum Innsbruck, (2020). Solo presentations of his work were organized by Karavil Contemporary London, (2015) and Depo, Istanbul (2016). Most recently his works have been exhibited at the Çanakkale Biennial, in the exhibitions “Don’t Look Back, Deep is the Past” (2021) at Odunpazarı Modern Museum and “Four Positions in Painting” (2022) at Peter Kilchmann gallery in Zurich. His one person exhibition before Two-Headed (2024), “Series of Open Strategies”, was shown at Öktem Aykut in 2019. In 2021, Öktem Aykut presented İhsan Oturmak with a one person presentation at Liste Basel.
