İhsan Oturmak
Born in 1987 in Diyarbakır, İhsan Oturmak received his bachelor’s degree in teaching arts and crafts from Marmara University in 2012. Oturmak was the recipient of Istanbul Culture and Arts Foundation (İKSV)’s fellowship to participate in the artist-residency program at Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris, in 2013. His works have been exhibited at international institutions including the Çanakkale Biennial (2022); Peter Kilchmann Gallery (2022); Odunpazarı Modern Museum (2021); Kunstraum Innsbruck (2020); Galata Greek School, Istanbul, (2019); Wienwoche, Vienna (2018); Mardin Biennial (2018); Royal Academy, London (2017); Kasa Gallery, Istanbul (2017); Elgiz Museum, Istanbul (2017); Municipal Art Gallery of Mytilene-Halim Bey Mansion, Lesvos (2016); Akbank Sanat, Istanbul (2014); Taipei World Trade Center, Taiwan (2013); Espace Culturel Louis Vuitton, Paris (2013); Istanbul Design Biennial (2012). Solo presentations of his work were organized by Depo, Istanbul (2016) and Karavil Contemporary London (2015). Series of Open Strategies was shown at Öktem Aykut in 2019. In 2021, Öktem Aykut presented İhsan Oturmak with a solo presentation at Liste Basel. His most recent one person exhibition Two-Headed took place at Öktem Aykut in 2024.
