Renée Levi – Lékélée

Lékélée by Renée Levi will take place in Öktem Aykut from November 6th until December 13th, 2025. The opening is on Thursday, November 6th, at 6.30pm.

“The Lékélée series, created at the end of 2025, follows Lésédy (2024) and continues my process of working in evolving, interlinked series. While Lésédy emerged through a slow, deliberate and carefully composed development, Lékélée marks a turning point — a storm of liberation closely swept through the work. All pieces, large and small, were placed on the floor like landscapes and painted in a single, intense flow. In this process, new layers and shifting spaces appeared — the notions of ‘before’ and ‘beyond’ became visible. The strong colors carry the force of this storm, giving it both volume and a sense of urgency.”

Lékélée is Levi’s third show with Öktem Aykut. In the past year the artist has realized two exhibitions in Palais de Tokyo and in Kunstmuseum Basel with series’ particularly conceived regarding the spaces of both renowned institutions. Lékélée has also materialized specifically for the current gallery space of Öktem Aykut, in which Levi exhibits for the first time.
